About Reiki
Reiki (ray-key) is a healing practice that originated in Japan in the early 1900’s. Reiki treatment aims to detect and correct energy imbalances in the body, mind and spirit. In Japanese, “Rei” means the universal life force, and “ki” refers to the essence of the individual. Through non-invasive light touch (with the receiver fully clothed), the practitioner’s hands act as a tuning fork, restoring balance and harmony to the receiver. Among other things, Reiki can “jump start” a person’s (or animal’s) own healing system to:
Reduce Stress
Promote Relaxation
Manage Pain
Speed Wound and Injury Healing
Enhance Other Forms of Treatment (i.e surgery, chemotherapy, other complementary and alternative medicine practices)
Learning Reiki
Reiki must be learned from an experienced teacher (Master); it cannot be self-taught.
Reiki training consists of three degrees (levels), each focusing on a different aspect of practice. Receiving a series of initiations aligns students to the inner source of healing.
First-degree: Students learn to perform Reiki on themselves and others.
Second-degree: Students are able to experience a deeper self-healing and learn to perform Reiki from a distance.
Third-degree: Students reach Master level. A Reiki Master can teach and initiate students.
